At 5 weeks, John had his first tub bath. Yes, a tad delayed. But sponge baths were just really working out for us, and was easier/lazier on my end. He.hated.it. Hopefully he will become a water baby like his older sister, who now is back to the days of never wanting to leave the bath.
Horrible picture of what appears to be my double chin and greasy hair. Please forgive.
yup, it was my greasy hair but I am for sure that the double chin was a glare on the camera. John drying off in his shark towel from Aunt & Uncle Corbs :)
And since we can never leave out dear ole Bitsy... she hopped in right when John's bath was coming to an end. She wanted to help out Yahnnie (Johnny)
Just hanging out in their robes, talking about the days events! Ellie is really still doing a great job with her little brother. We still have to remind her to be gentle, and lord help us we would never leave her in a room with him alone (we are not crazy), but she gives him so many kisses throughout the day and pats his back after each feeding. She is very concerned with his eating schedule and likes to remind me "eat! eat! eat!"
This weekend was STL's first May weekend and the weather really lived up to the hype. After an April full of tornados and rain, we are welcoming May's flowers with open arms. We decided to have our good friends over for a park picnic trip. We live right around the corner from this tiny little neighborhood park and it is always dead, so we zipped on up there with a few accessories and had a grand ole time! I can't wait to do it on another friday night. Maybe next time the kids will all fall asleep in front of a movie and the parents can hang out past 9 :) Pipe dreams.
Dan lead the way with the troops all piled into the wagon. I worried about the wine and dips. Erin worried about my baby.
Chris came straight from work with a road soda. Grady and Ellie decided to take turns zipping around the playground in the wagon that we are finally able to put to good use! We can't wait to use all these pics of Ellie and Grady at their wedding slideshow. Grady says only a couple of words: Mommy, Daddy and Ellie. Ellie and "Dadee" are serious lovers and spend a lot of time with eachother throughout the week. If they don't find their way into eachother's arms, a marriage will just have to be arranged.
Gretchen joined in the fun too and hopped on the swings. Such a great night for some park play, cocktails and bbq-ing. Ellie decided to take the bull by the horns and get the heck out of dodge with her buddy.
The beautiful weekend continued and we celebrated Mother's Day. Which has come to be one of my favorite "holidays"... totally not commercial or made up, this is a real holiday. We spent the day with my mom, my mother in law, and my babies! Couldn't ask for anything more. I got 2 foot rubs, an ice cream pit stop, flowers, and lots of yard work done. Thank you so much to my darling, wonderful husband, who is currently upstairs while both our kids "cry it out" :)
Ellie pre-church, pre-church meltdown, pre-breakfast, pre-breakfast meltdown, pre-syrup all over, pre-no nap meltdown.
Mother's Day times 2!! I am so happy to be spending my day with BOTH of my babies. And John gave me an extra special treat by only waking up once last night... even better as this momma was out celebrating a wedding of some friends at the country club up the street. One too many of the club specialties....
Poor Bauer has really been lacking in the love department. She is such a good dog and so good with our kids. I love you too, first babe.
Ellie spending her evening watching the yard. She is obsessed with watching Chris do yardwork and being "side" (outside). She just sits and watches him and soaks it all in. This is her usual perch, but she also usually has a mop in her hand. She loves a good mop.
After a full day of church, breakfast, grandparents house, ice cream, drive, outside play, minimal nap.. must say they both impressed me today!
annnnnnnnnnnd she's totally dunzo!
My baby boy and his baby blues. Five and a half weeks. Chris really has lectured me since this picture was taken. He is really upset with me and the popped collar. Okay, I liked the popped collar. But he is threatening to not allow him in any bubbles or jon-jon's this summer if the collar stays up, so this is the last you will see of the popped Polo. So sad.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there! Especially my mom and mother in law. That will be it's own post, one day late. (So mom, check back tomorrow:)

First - I can't believe he only woke up once in a night. That is amazing!
Second - if I had a boy, I would pop the collar. I even popped Lucy's from time to time!
